Actually, those 2 shrubs on the right are a Viburnum variety called "Autumn Jazz." Yes, they have great bright red fall color and are a native. The plant on the left (shadow on wall) is a "Bloodgood" Japanese Maple, which leafs out in the spring bright red, goes a bit greener during summer, then turns a blazing red again in fall before dropping its leaves.

The planter boxes are insulated, so our plantings can survive a Chicago winter. Thanks for your question!
