Love the orange chair! Where's it from? If custom, do you remember the name of the fabric? Thanks! - I love the fabric on the orange chair and would like to know where it came from »
May I ask if this is a professional project or a personal house? (I see a classic Shephard Fairey and a really beautiful Sam Flores here... Very nice! And are those pillows by J. Fish??) »
Annie Thornton The owner of this space came in and answered this question on another photo for us. Lucky! Anyways, the color is "Hale Navy" by Benjamin Moore. I love this color!
It isn't always the amount of orange used that creates the impact. Here a small dose of orange print goes a long way when seen on a chair from Anthropologie (with personality to spare) and placed against dramatic gray walls.
Over the years it has become more acceptable for your home decor to call from many different styles and eras, and with the growing popularity of sites like The Selby, traditional homes have experienced a renaissance with the contemporary and modern set by pairing old with new. Painting all wall details the same color updates traditional moldings.
I'm almost always in favor of painting moldings and casings the same color as walls. I'm also a fan of matte paint in general, but especially when all the decorative trim is painted in. Don't worry; matte paint is just as wipeable as eggshell but doesn't have that rental-apartment sheen so many of us are familiar with.
We often see wainscoting and walls with contrasting paint colors, but painting it the same color as the wall has a wonderful effect. It's far less busy and can help spaces with low ceilings feel a little higher, where the white meets the color.
To couple with the grass cloth and the wainscoting. If the grass cloth doesn't work on the wainscoting paint it the same color as the last foot and the ceiling color.
I like the colour of the walls, but more important the band at the top of the room. Since our lounge has those horrible built-in valences, this would be a way of blending them.
