cabinets - love the wood -- can you tell me what it is? bamboo? »
Mark Melonas LUKE WORKS Yes, that is bamboo. It is called vertical grain caramel bamboo from teragren.
It simply has a clear coat lacquer on top. We prefer teragren brand bamboo. We have found that it is superior in color and quality and consistency.
Choosing the lighting, colors, and materials for this space was an organic process for both Melonas and Reed. The combination of custom work, bold lighting, pops of color — and of course the incredible wall mural — resulted in a truly individual kitchen. The client did want red accents, which Melonas integrated through modern bar stools and a custom glass bowl for the island circle. The mural is a custom piece by artist Michael Owen.
