Harbor Drive Residence

The major objectives in designing the residence were to save the large oak tree in the rear of the site by making it part of the design and to capture the views of the water by bringing the outside in on the rear of the structure. This was accomplished with large floor to ceiling glass doors which open onto deep covered outdoor living spaces.
Outdoor living spaces are located off of all living and sleeping areas to capture and enjoy the view of the saltwater harbor. The outdoor living spaces create large overhangs to protect the residence from the sun’s heat. In the rear of the residence, a cascading water fall spills from the base of the rear deck down five feet into the forty foot long lap pool. The dark wood deck and upper open trellis softens the stark white façade on the rear. The residence accomplishes the goals in which were set forth by creating a design in scale and form in a minimalist manor.
