Cathy Schwabe Architecture Hi -
The floor is pecan with a clear finish.
The walls are western red cedar with a washed paint finish -- the client is an artist -- and she tested out the paint color and got it to the level of transparency that she wanted and then she and her husband painted all the boards - on all sides ( finishing all sided is key to making sure that the wood will move evenly - depending on the finish - this is often done on all but the front face prior to installation) set on sawhorses all over the house -- and they then the tongue and groove boards were installed. In this case -- as she wanted to really control the eveness of the wash -- something much easier to do when the wood is lying horizontal than vertical and given their ages - was not something either of them were going to do on a ladder -- this method worked perfectly. It did mean that the installers had to keep really clean hands -- not a bad idea when working with natural woods anyway,
I hope that this gives you the information that you were looking for -- if not, please write again.
