Jason Lee Design Studio, Inc. Mondo Grass will do best in shaded area in Las Vegas. I don't plant them in full sun in Los Angeles area. They will be burn in full sun area. There are many drought-tolerant plants available that have similar color and texture you can use in your garden. I would visit your local nursery and they will help you select right plants for the area you are planting.
Botanica Atlanta | Landscape Design-Build-Maintain Mondo grass is a lot like liriope and grows to about the same size (12" tall). But it has a more narrow leaf which gives it a softer look.

6. Dwarf mondo grass (Ophiopogon japonicus), USDA zones 6-11. Dwarf mondo grass is a small, dark grass that grows in 4-inch tall clumps. It's much sturdier than the larger version and does best in filtered sunlight, though it can withstand full sunlight fairly well.
