I just completed the design of a laundry closet that will house stackable Whirlpool units. The interior dimensions of the closet are 37" by 37".

Cold is cool. It doesn't sound like much, but washing your clothes in cold water instead of hot gets them just as clean, and saves energy (the average family will save over $100 per year).

4. A sink is a fabulous feature in any laundry room. I use mine for rinsing out paint brushes and for filling up watering cans and pet bowls. Also, it really comes in handy for the occasional detergent spill.

That could work. Put the washer/dryer side by side against east wall, vent outside. Leave hanging space on either side of closet.
