Starting at the bottom of the wall, he drove the nail in at an angle to attach each piece of wood. Hullinger and his carpenter started with a random but scattered pattern. "We wanted to make it so that it would draw your eye," he says, "but it wouldn't be too busy of a wall when you look at it."
