Here's a shot of the work in progress. Hullinger's carpenter started by cutting the wood down to 1' x 2" or 1' x 1" pieces. Starting at the bottom of the wall, he drove the nail in at an angle to attach each piece of wood. Hullinger and his carpenter started with a random but scattered pattern. "We wanted to make it so that it would draw your eye," he says, "but it wouldn't be too busy of a wall when you look at it."
