French Eclectic Garden

A lap pool allows for serious recreational use as well as a watershape that is often part of this style of garden design. The amur maple allee reinforces the French influence in this space.

The stone is Halquist Limestone from Wisconsin and was selected as it complimented the stucco finish on the house, French Eclectic style, and the overall character of the gardens.
The paver size is 18" x 30" and is set on a gravel base for drainage with narrow joints. The coping is 4" thick, also limestone. We did have problems with the coping, some pieces began to spall and it has been replaced with granite. The deck paving has had some cracked stones 20+ years after the initial installation, but have otherwise held up well. In the Boston area we continue to have challenges with limestone as a paving material.
