How much depth is needed for this door - I'm trying to use this to hide a door. wondering how much space I need to allow for this "doorway/bookcase"? »
Nick Mehl Architecture It's a custom made bookcase with a piano hinge, so the depth is whatever you want to make it. I'd say the minimum would be 9" if you want to keep it a bookcase. This one happens to be 12" deep.
I don't know how they constructed this particular door, but I believe I have seen this kind of thing in the past with tiny wheels concealed on the bottom to help distribute the weight and make it easier to move.
