What Houzz contributors are saying:

1. Small kitchen islands. As we see on the sets of The Americans, the '80s marked the beginning of the utilitarian island trend. Kitchen islands started small. (Remember those chunky square butcher block–topped islands that you could slide in and out for food prep?) They kept growing and are now are often the largest elements in the room, containing microwave drawers, dishwashers, a second sink and breakfast bars. But as many try to live in smaller spaces, small islands are making a comeback.See small kitchen islands
