Martha O'Hara Interiors Hi chlorinequeen! Thank you for your great question. White marble has been featured in many designs lately because of it's beautiful and timeless appeal. While porosity can be an issue with marble, as long as you are maintaing the sealer and quickly blotting up spills, it should hold staining at bay. However, while a sealer will protect from staining, it does not protect from etching (or dulling appearance) that will come from acidic things like citrus foods, juices, wine, and coffee that may come in contact with the stone. Honed marble is always a great option in a kitchen design because etching is less noticeable than it would be on a polished marble. If you have any further questions a local stone fabricator would be able to help you!
