You just never know what's behind closed doors in this laundry room. The stone path takes you right by the crackle finished "shed" doors. There they are . . . the washer and dryer. It gives new meaning to "out of sight, out of mind." Photo credit: Rhonda Kieson

How to make frame for shed door laundry idea - I have old shed doors just like this and would love to know how to design a support frame like the one pictured. The doors are very heavy.
Thanks in advance for any tips! »
msvickilynn How fun for you mjzac! I love love love those. I have a laundy closet in my hall. If I slide to the right, I would block the bathroom door. But I can slide to the left. I want some!Where should I go look for some?
Rhonda Kieson Designs The doors have a crackle finish. While I am not a big fan of the crackle finish, I chose it for this project because it made the shed doors look like they had spent some time outside. There are crackle-finish kits on the market that work very well. Choose the correct type of paint, the color you want, and follow the directions. It's an interesting process, but it does have time constraints on getting the job done, so you will need to plan accordingly.
Good luck on your project!
Swinging barn doors give this hidden laundry closet a unique look that fits in nicely with the rest of the home's rustic aesthetic. Open shelving above the washer and dryer allows for plenty of storage.
barn doors! Can we use these somewhere? I like the finished light white washed colour but stained reclaimed looking wood might be nice too. Love the big hinges. Maybe this could also go in the mudroom? if not closet(s) playroom? ...
Good luck on your project!
