How many inches down from the top of the cabinet door is the pull? Thx! - What is the placement of the handles on the cabinets? Are they about 1.5 inches down from the top of the cabinet door? Is there a rule of thumb? Thanks so much! »

Zieba Builders, Inc. Hi, and thanks for asking! Without digging out the plans (this project was completed several years ago), I think the vanity is approximately 84 inches in length, with cabinets custom built and fitted to the space. Good luck!
The small tiles, how do you make it perfectly flat on the wall? We had someone add these tiles in our bathroom but they came out wavy. Is there a secret in pasting on the wall? »
Bill Fry Construction - Wm. H. Fry Const. Co. It sounds like the tiles were not applied to a properly prepared surface.
Separately, check out this youtube:
Another item not mentioned on this video is the use of tile spacers, shims, or wedges. When I watch the professionals that Bill hires for tile installation, I realize that there is a lot to getting it right. :) Rhoda
Zieba Builders, Inc. A material is only as good as its installation, sadly. So here are some tips for next time:
First, the wall needs to be perfectly flat and plumb. Check the wall surface in both directions with a long level before opening the first box of tile. Second, make sure you strike a level line or attach a level guide board to the wall when you lay the first course (ideally the one at eye level). Third, step away from the wall every couple of courses to make sure it "looks right" before proceeding further. Make minute adjustments before continuing, before the mastic has set. Finally, if it's wrong, pull it out and try again.
Kerrie L. Kelly Because of the sleek style and precise wall-to-wall installation, it looks like this is custom made. If you wanted to achieve the same look with pre-fabricated cabinets, look for a slab (no details) door style that can be stained dark. Part of the "cool factor" of this installation is the concrete looking solid surface top that drops around the side of cabinet, too. Not very expensive to incorporate that extra piece. In fact, it may even be the extra slab piece from the sink cut out!
