Tres McKinney Design I designed the cabinets and they were made by the general contractor on the project Paul Silvestrini of Sivestrini Construction who is also a cabinet maker. If your project is in the California San Francisco Bay Area you could have cabinets made by him. If you are not in this area you would have to locate a local cabinet maker who could make something similar to these for you. Contact me on my website if you have additional questions.
A most beautiful space! Side mirror question - Did you put the side mirror on the wall to increase the light reflection or is it a medicine cabinet? I am getting rid of a large 8 ft. Mirror with Hollywood lights of 400 watts and am wanting do an application like yours (I have 36" sink can., sit down vanity, and another 36" sink cab.) But 4 60 wart sconce ps as not enough light! Should info the mirrors on each side like yours? It is so beautiful! Thank you in advance! »
taylorjj Thank you for answering! I noticed the iPad spell correct made things a little difficult! You have my layout correct. I cannot seem to find pretty, traditional, dressy sconces with one 100 watt bulb that are the size I need. So frustrating! And I'm getting different input on extra lighting. One said to augment "task" lighting I should put 3 cans over the center of the sinks and vanity, about 12"out. One said I should put the cans 30" out from the mirror/wall for more "general" lighting. (I have no other place to put a hanging light due to a ceiling fan that I must keep and a skylight. How far out are the cans in front of the closets doors? Which are stunning by the way, as is the chinoiserie toile. Anymore help would be greatly appreciated and thank you again!
phillipsmary What a gorgeous bath. I am searching for creamy white and brown basketweave marble tile and am having difficulty finding it. Could you share where you found yours? Thank you so much.
Tres McKinney Design The marble counter top was made from a 3/4 inch thick slab with a 1 1/2 inch ogee edge detail.
another piece of 3/4 inch stone is applied to the front of the 3/4" slab to make it appear thicker.
the back splash is 3/4 inch thick x 4 inches high.
I love the way you did the mirror. Is it one large mirror that you put molding around, or is it several? - I am in the process of remodleing my master bathroom. I have one large mirror over a double vanity and love the way the molding looks around it in your picture. I am not sure if we can do it this way. Will talk to contractor. »
Tres McKinney Design It is three seperate mirrors. The moulding was installed first and the beveled mirrors inserted in the frames. Since this master bath has a single sink it worked well to make a large mirror in the center flanked by a pair of secondary mirrors. The mirrors make the space feel more expansive in the bathroom which is a windowless room in a high rise building. If you are planning on having two sinks in your bathroom remodel then I would devide the space with larger mirrors on each end and a smaller one in the center (with 4 single light sconces. If the space is narrow then you could keep the frames all the same size with a sconce on each end and one in the center frame to properly light the space.
Note the closet doors reflected in the mirror are also mirrored to brighten up the space.
Design ideas - Thank you for posting pictures of your design projects. From your ideas, you gave me the courage to think outside the box in making decisions while remodeling my guest bathroom/bedroom.
Wishing you continued success. »
Tres McKinney Design These pulls are made by Edgar Berebi Architectural Hardware Collection. The style I used in this project is #7920-6 in a silver finish. Beautiful cabinet hardware is like jewelry to the eye and hand.
Tres McKinney Design Yes - we designed the custom cabinetry in this bath and it was built by Paul Silvestrini of Silvestrini Construction in San Francisco.
love this vanity/countertop - not sure if we can do light cabinetry because of colors throughout house...do we go darker because of our bedroom furniture or lighter because we prefer lighter in a bathroom
