Could you please tell me about your wood island top. What type of wood is it? Where did you purchase it? What type of finish does it have. Thank you. We are considering a wood top for our island and your's is beautiful! »
Rebekah Zaveloff That is definitely walnut - and has a clear coat finish on top (as opposed to oiled butcher block). A finish that is often used for kitchen counters is called Waterlox.
jillandmatt Thank you! We are going to do a wood top on our island. After looking at all of the wood tops on Houzz, I think we are going to do a walnut with oil finish. I'm also thinking about having it distressed. I found a company called Craft Art that will distress the top and make it look like it is 20 years old. Any thought on that? Thanks so much! The pictures on Houzz have really helped me envision what it will look like.
