If you're feeling creative then you can get a set of wall decals and create a work of art of your own. Sets are usually shapes (I'm considering getting squares) but may also be butterflies, leaves or other items.

This small company creates sophisticated, peel-and-stick appliques that add somewhat of an architectural accent to a room. Styles come standard in white—a great way to break up a solid colored, bold or darkly painted wall. By the way, do you get the cleverness of the name? A regular hexagon has sides that are all the same length, and all vertices have the same angle. This means that any sized hexagon can fit together without gaps — what's known as a tessellation.
