Dear "A Beach Cottage desinger"
Would you be able to share where you got the luggage and chest night table. Is it purchased or did you paint a luggage and trunk white. Thank you »
bcbeaker I have an old trunk that I want to paint out shabby chic, but not too too shabby. Just a little sanding on the corners, etc. However, it is metal for the most part, and does have some wooden slats so I was thinking of taking the wood off, and painting the rest of the trunk some kind of white and then putting the slats back on. I cannot imagine not having to sand it, especially since it is metal. Any other ideas???
Even her director's chair is covered in a lovely natural linen. To see one of the best examples of using this look throughout a home, check out her entire photoset here.
You really don't have to spend a lot of money to create a one-of-a-kind bedside table. Sarah took some old suitcases and painted them white for her beach cottage.
Better yet, paint whatever you do find one color. The white works so well in this beachy bedroom along with the sheets, furniture, and white washed boards.
Tip: When painting leather, make sure to wipe it down with alcohol and lightly sand it to remove surface dirt and wax before you begin. Use several coats of acrylic paint.
Sarah was the first Australian to invite Houzz into her Sidney beach house, which is full of natural textures, interesting objects, and vintage furniture.
The beachy vibe continues into the bedroom of this Sydney home, with vintage trunks painted white standing in as a bedside table, a linen-covered director's chair, and old fashioned bedstead. Fresh flowers in a pitcher add a hint of color and create a welcoming mood.
I love the color of the trunk etc, and want to try and replicate what is on top of this when I get mine finished - just need to know more about what type of paint and whether chalk paint by annie sloan sp. will bond to my trunk.
