This porch features stunning views of the lake and running trails. The furniture in the space is a mix of old and new, and designer furniture and custom made furniture. What is the flooring? - What is the floor wood and stain? Is this a three season porch? I have a similar 3 season porch that is in Minneapolis and I am looking to do flooring like that.
Thanks! »
Pam Rose Does the floor stain and varnish protect the floor from fading from bright sun exposure?
I am building a 4 season room and I am trying to decide on stone vs wood.
oregonhealthy I love cozy rooms. Despite its length, I think the depth of the room helps add to an intimacy that the whole room fosters, if you consider things such as the warmth of the wooden floor, for example. I'm not sure I would have chosen this exact ceiling color, but I love the darker ceiling color to bring the illusion of a lower ceiling and more coziness.
Vered Rosen Design In general, a dark ceiling looks visually heavy and lower. It's a good solution to high ceiling rooms, where you want to "cozy up" the space. personally this ceiling in that porch feels too heavy. I could see how a lighter shade of wood would look great, but if that is not possible, I would paint it, or at ancor that dark brown with a piece of furniture or accesory in the same color to tie the ceiling to the space. One last note, if your ceiling light shines UP, that means you don't get much light from it, because most of the light is absorbed by the dark brown and not reflected back down.
bepsf One doesn't always want a feeling of openness - Sometimes one desires a feeling of being sheltered, which this dark ceiling accomplishes quite well.
Height of windows from the floor - I love this space. We ate about to do this in our cottage and i was wondering howvfar off the floor the windows are?
Thanks

Despite its narrow dimensions, this covered porch's unadorned windows give unobstructed views of a nearby lake. Judging from this sunroom's photo comments, it looks like the Houzz nation is divided when it comes to the ceiling: Some feel like the dark color makes the ceiling appear "visually heavy," while others like how the dark hue evokes a feeling of "being sheltered." I fall in the latter camp; I sometimes tend to feel too exposed in all-white sunrooms, so I appreciate how the dark shade adds warmth and coziness to the space.
In fact, a sunporch will protect more refined woods and textiles than an open or screened-in porch, so you can furnish it with more formal and delicate pieces.
