EW: This set of full-sized beds is perfection, especially the custom canopies and matching headboards. What inspired you to include canopies in this design? PH: The room had no architecture to speak of — 8-foot ceilings, no crown molding, nothing of any substance. I knew I had to do some strong decorating in here. To add height and create a sense of architecture, I fabricated these bed canopies. They make the bedroom much more intriguing than a blank box.

Custom-made canopies give these double beds a sense of height and architecture. Fabricating them in a shade of yellow slightly darker than the walls gives them added dimension.
