There’s truly no height requirement for a divider. These shorter bookshelves separate this long and narrow room just as well. Plus, it gives the space a cozy bookish feel.
There are no rules that say bookshelves need to hug the walls; they can also serve as room dividers in a large, open space. This room can go from breakfast room to research and homework area with one clearing of the table.
could go column to column to make book wall and simultaneously function as a separation b/t media and "game" room. That might be a pretty good idea actually
The problem with being married to an academic? Never having enough bookshelves. I imagine our next house will need to have a built-in library. I like that the floating bookshelves no only store books, but also help define the space. I also like how they are attached to the exposed rafters.
