From the homeowner: "I love standing at the center island in the kitchen, taking in what is happening in the entire house. From there I can see out the big windows in the front of the house to the street, out the custom window in the eating area to the backyard, into the mudroom in case someone comes in, what’s happening on the tv, and with the kids in the playroom. It is like the command center of the home."
Michael Robert Construction The flooring is 4" oak planks, #2, with 4 coats of water based poly. We went with the #2 (actually the third most "desirable" grade) intentionally so that we would have the variation in color and the natural knots for visual interest. The water-based poly gives the floor a lighter, whiter look. I didn't want the yellow or red tones to come through as they do with an oil based poly.
I have been looking for end tables and a coffee table that are metal with glass and I think these ones in the picture are nice but can't really see them well. Where did you get them? I'd like to see them better. »
Michael Robert Construction These are from Crate and Barrel several years ago. We have many more pictures of this room in the main project/ idea book. Good luck!
