Art Deco Danish Lounge Chair

Danish Lounge Chair
This elegant green striped velvet chair is a perfect example of the seamless transition from the cubist 1920's European Art Deco aesthetic into what became hailed worldwide as the next streamlined mid-century style known as Danish Modern Design.

Newly restored and reupholstered, this lovely prototypical Danish lounge chair is from the late 1930's or early 40's and is a graceful tapering chair reminiscent of one that might have been used on a mid-century ocean liner of the period. Interestingly, it has an unusual choice of wood trim (oak rather than the expected walnut or teak) displaying simplified geometric lines consisting of flat arms and triangular oak tapering legs. It captures the essence of time-honored cabinetmaking emphasizing warmth, beauty, and quality craftsmanship. This chair will make a fine addition to your living room, den, bedroom or sitting room.
