About Teak
Teak is a dense, close grained hardwood with high natural oil content. These natural features make teak extremely resistant to the harsh elements and the ideal timber for outdoor furniture. So durable in fact that teak furniture requires little, if any, maintenance and can be left outdoors year-round to weather naturally. While the rate of weathering varies depending on climate, moisture and exposure to sun (the weathering process will occur faster in moist climates and slower in dry climates).
About Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is commonly known as rust-free steel (RFS) or Inox. This is a ferrous alloy that increases the corrosion resistance of a substance by the addition of chrome and nickel. The principle is based on protecting the surface area by means of chrome-oxide and nickel-oxide molecules. These molecules are much larger than the underlying iron molecules, which prevents the latter from binding with oxygen and forming iron oxides - better known as rust.
