jeremycaney Yes, Rustica's kits are similar, but there's a weight and boldness to this rail that I haven't seen in any kits. Would love to know if this came from a kit and, if so, where from? There are details to this barn door installation that outshine all of the other examples I've seen.
Pipeline Supply-Decorative Hardware Division Pipeline Supply carries a line with the beefier flat track and roller systems. Contact Derick at 952-988-5569 with any questions. With 20 years experience I know from experience there are lots of things to think about when you are trying to do a system like this. If you miss one, you might be purchasing something that isn't right for you.
Rustic elements like the sliding door add to the feeling of relaxed comfort and contrast with the sleek elements in the room. The door is made from reclaimed barn siding and has a back colored glass on the reverse to allow for a writing surface in the play area. It provides separation between the man cave and the kids' playroom but can be opened wide to connect the two.
This is the best example of a sliding barn door that I've seen. The wood is beautiful. More importantly, the railing (steel? iron?) feels tightly integrated with the room since it is nested against the molding and continues along the length of the entire wall. I also like how thick the mount is; many of these look flimsy compared to the wood door (even if they're structurally sound). While the hardware is similar to the barn door kits available from Rustica, they don't have quite the same weight that this appears to. Would love to know where that hardware came from!
