Vertical lighting can also be used to illuminate solid shelves. We typically use a very low profile LED ribbon light for this, its placed just inside the cabinet doors at both sides, for the full height of the cabinet. (We typically cut the shelves back around 1/2" to accommodate the lighting. The lighting can be hidden behind a subtle light shroud if needed, but its rather attractive as-is.
