Kenny Craft, CNU LEED AP Some manufacturer's of fiber cement siding offer "pre-finished" options..., but from my experience it's better to just plan to field paint it after installation... I've heard experiences of contractors installing the pre-finished siding.., only to have some damage or paint splatter (from trim or other painted areas).., and then end up having to paint over all of it anyway... Rather than paying extra for pre-finished siding, I recommend getting the "normal" unfinished kind and plan to have it field painted. I can't really speak to the cost of paint, but it shouldn't really be any different than the cost of painting normal wood siding. Regarding the cost of fiber cement siding, that's a little difficult to say also. It depends on where you are and who does the installation. It's definitely more expensive than vinyl (but obviously far superior in aesthetics). I would think it's comparable to using wood siding.., but it could be a little more expensive? I would recommend talking to a local contractor about pricing. (remember to use the smooth side..!) - Kenny
