Dig Your Garden Landscape Design Hello Chris, this caudron turned into a gas firepit is about 5' wide. I think the height was about 12-18" or so. It is an old cooking pot from India. I wish I could find more, so many people have asked where they could get one. Unfortunately I can't find a resource at this time. I hope this helps.
Dig Your Garden Landscape Design Hello brendakath, sorry for my delay in responding. We purchased this iron cauldron from a resource in Napa, CA. The pots are from India, and unfortunately my resource doesn't import them any longer. I wish they did since I've had many, many requests for this pot! Good luck.
dyannah Thanks for the link! These chairs have a nice design and I like the idea that they are made from 100% recycled plastic -- this is a good use for this recycled material. I wonder...have you sat in the chairs for twenty minutes or so? It looks like the front edge of the seat might have a hard edge...I'm looking for eco and comfort.
Where was the artifact shop that this was purchased from? And do you know who did the retrofitting to turn it into a gas fire pit? I'd like to contact the people who put this fire pit together. »
Dig Your Garden Landscape Design The caldron was purchased at Artefact Design & Salvage, Sonoma, CA. They usually sell one of a kind items. I didn't see any others like this while visiting a couple of weeks ago. A gas line was installed below grade from the house. A plumber made the connection with purchased fittings and installed a standard firepit ring which are available in different sizes and easy to find. I hope that helps! Eileen
mousemaker thank you! artEEfact? :) that's too funny. where i live we can burn wood in our fire pit, but i thought this particular cauldron was wonderful and just wanted to know more about it. i wonder what it was originally?
The great outdoors is the perfect place to play with scale. A giant firepit really grounds the space and gives the seating arrangement much more impact.
Similar to the previous water feature, this massive fire pit used as a central design element illustrates confident use of scale. Think about those flimsy, imported fire pits that constantly threaten to be knocked over. Instead, the owners of this inviting outdoor space have used an industrial metal salvage piece to create the aboveground fire pit. There's a good understanding of proportion at play here, too. Notice how the space surrounding the fire pit accommodates comfortable Adirondack chairs and a curved retaining wall.
