Classic 1930s Dutch living room

Classic furnishings from the 1930s in a Dutch farmhouse built in 1797.
This farm is called ‘Kloostergare’. Farms such as this were relatively large, with maids and farmhands living with the family in the front part of the building - there were no fewer than six box beds for them to sleep in. In later times the workers moved to the barn, and from the 20th century lived in separate labourers' cottages.
1929 saw a mass strike by farm labourers (reapers) and domestic servants. These people had to work hard for a meagre income, lived in small cottages and were treated with contempt by their employers.
