Architecture plays a prominent part in Navajo style. Adobe walls, protruding wood posts and wall niches are the most indicative. Something else you'll see a lot of: leaning ladders, often used to display gorgeous blankets and tapestries. Although I totally love the ladders, I can't help but think how fast a cat would try to perch himself atop it, turning it into a Navajo Cat Condo.
A well-planned aquarium can work with any decor style — yes, even a desert-inspired one. Here, a serene horizontal tank surprisingly elevates the rustic Southwestern interior.

I forgot to add this. I was hoping for an in-wall fish tank, hopefully facing the great room etc. in my mind it could be inset in a wall that could be accessed from behind, like thru the bathroom in the guest/teen suite (not visible on that side, just easy to access and clean and get water in easily). My current fish tank is relatively small 2.5' X 2'. Would go bigger but not smaller. I'll be replacing it when we move anyway so if there's a place like this for it I can find a tank to fit. I feel like this is too small a detail but I don't know where your limit for that is.
another one to show Derek. This is what I was trying to describe. Only as wide(thick) as the wall and shorter due to load bearing studs. Install between Office and Entertainment room. Would open up Office view to common areas. Also cut 2 additional areas on either side of tank for shelves... Additional views!
