Sekeeta I was unaware pewter could be used as a countertop...it's beautiful! How well does it hold up and is there much maintenance involved? Does pewter contain any lead? Your homes are fabulous, you do great work!

Pewter by Design Hi Sekeeta,
Some pewter does contain lead but it can be specified without. Our pewter does not contain lead. Pewter has been used for counter tops across Europe for decades and has stood the test of time well. However, we suggest if you are shopping for a pewter counter top from a European company you verify that it does not contain lead as some do. Pewter is a softer material but very durable. We do recommend using a cutting board in lieu of cutting directly on the counter top surface as well as using trivets under hot items. Maintenance is very easy, simply wash with a ph neutral soap like liquid Ivory dish soap and water followed by a good rinse then dry with a soft cotton cloth. Pewter does not require special sealers or other heavy maintenance procedures.
