I don't think this type of window covering would work in either the living room or family room.....perhaps drapes off to the side that could be pulled to the centre for privacy when needed. I'm concerned that mounting anything in the window will obstruct the view

these are full length. however, if you will not be needing a roman that will be going up & down ....you could put in a "false" roman . just the effect BUT it does not function in closing off the window
