Glenda Hunter James I love the layout of this kitchen! It Isn't huge, but appears to be. It keeps the traffic clear from the back door, as well as provides easy access to bring in groceries, and sit them down (I always think of this, since I am typically by myself when I do it, and I over spend at the grocery!!?!) I like the flow for your work space...and you still have the island counter to prepare. But, the greatest feature is the 'Table/eating area' attached to the island area!!! Great for preparing your family dinners, and serving...or for family and friends to sit and chat while cooking. Or even for your kids to do homework, and be connected, yet you still have your counter and prep space!!! Great thought process -- Good Job to the Designer! Love it!
Want to come do mine! My Contractor changed everything in my plan, and i am continually trying to figure out where to put things! I keep rearranging it to make it flow better, but can't seem to be happy with it! Of course I can still do that because the Contractor quit, and left the 'old cabinets' sitting in the middle of the floor because we could not figure out to place them in the new addition..?? So, he said, "you will just have to get new ones, we can't make these work at all! But, I have no more $$$ left, so you are on your own!"
Not only did he not finish placing the cabinets in the kitchen, but I kept my Grandmother's 1950's sink (which he didn't like, because he thought i should do the house all modern) and would not build the frame for it, so the plumbing was not hooked up either! They didn't leave all the old beams from the structure as I wanted, they ripped them out, and built a 'common frame roof' over the old part the house. They did this to 3/4 of the old farm house...not leaving any of the huge old beams exposed, as I asked! (he said I would not like it!). Not only that, he ripped out all the tongue-n-groove wood, that went from floor to wall to ceiling! All of it was the original 100 y/o wood, built by my Great, Great, Grandfather!
How sad! Thanks for listening to me! If you know how to get someone to help me out, please let me know. Only thing, they took my $160k retirement funds, and left me with an un finished home! And, even worse -- left all the debris...all over the yard, while destroying the landscape in over half of the yard. I live on our family farm, so that is allot of mess! But, somehow, they managed to take quite a bit of the old lumber, which they ripped out, except for the few, I managed to get back out of their dumpster, and/or dig from under the debris they left! what a nightmare!
