Shari Misturak Hello - This is a custom designed office built on site by a local craftsman. The floating shelves extend out from the desk portion to create an unexected continuation of the main unit adding interest to the adjacent wall. I hope this was helpful :-)

Totally quirky, but may be interesting to have a coupla floating shelves extend out above the piano, to integrate the unit into the room -- instead of having it be a monolith on just one wall ??? Don't like this plus not much wall space in room for artwork except above piano ...plus don't need extra shelving
