The large Minotti sectional sofa in the living room can be arranged into different configurations. A vintage glass-topped coffee table allows the pattern of the rug (from The Rug Company) to show through. An inlaid-bone box holds remotes that control the TV and other electronic equipment. The small side table is from Minotti. A shimmery gold lumbar pillow melds with the other gold accents in the room. "I'm kind of obsessed with gold right now," says Lanphier. "I'm tired of everything being chrome and silver. Gold felt more worldly and more in keeping with the owner's global art and sculpture collection."Behind the sofa, heavy metal barn doors slide to close off the living room from the adjoining office. They're covered in a hammered copper that Lanphier says goes well with the cherry floors. "It has a sheen to it and reads very differently from the wall covering in the dining room."
