As this part of the world we use gypsum or it called as Plaster of Paris. Its a powder mixed with water and some glue to bind then can mold to any shape.

dSPACE Studio Ltd Poplar is a wood species that is often used in projects where the wood will be painted because it takes paint very well, and the result is a nice smooth finish. In this project the crown, base and picture mold are all custom profiles created from poplar and painted at the same time as the walls. In the US, the top layer of a wall (the part you see) is a material called gypsum or drywall. In other parts of the world, or in older buildings here in the US this wall material might be plaster. In either case, the wood trim is typically applied to the wall and then painted.

Bentley Design We have custom built a number of these larger mirrors, we typically use 1-1/2 inch x 3 or 4 hardwood lumber. That with the mirror glass which is 3/8 inch makes for a heavy yet obedient piece of furniture. Just place it where you want it and say " don't go anywhere " it won't I promise.
