Kikuchi & Associates The stone is Arizona Sandstone, color "buckskin". It is used for the paving as well as for the spa face. It is cut in a pattern called "Ashlar". Please note the the color may not be accurately represented in photos, especially these night photos.
Kikuchi & Associates The supporting beams of the arbor structure sit atop wood "blocks" that penetrate the roof and sit directly atop the exterior walls of the building. Therefore the structural "load" of the arbor is shared by the house wall. The penetration through the roof and the block itself should be thoroughly flashed with metal to prevent water penetration into the roof. Before attempting this, you should consult with a structural engineer, as the specifics of these support blocks can be influenced by the size of the arbor, the location of the blocks in relationship to windows and doors and the framing of the wall below.
