My red front door. The windows are beveled, with matching sidelights. The door paint is from Walmart, I found a color that didn't have pink, orange or maroon in it.
Denise Posey I bought the basket from a beautiful little flower shop in Memphis, Le Fleur . I bought it about 8 or 9 years ago, it's flat on the back side. I'm sure you can find something similar. The flowers I've collected over the years from Pier 1, Pottery Barn, Walmart, The Dollar Tree (if they are all hooked together I usually break or cut them apart). The yellow and red ones are poppies, white ones are daisies, and the filler are fern leaves. Hope this helps.
Please name the Wall mart color here if you could? - My house is mediteranian.. (sp) however, I love love this... and I'm basically a cottage Buff to the hilt... »
Denise Posey Sorry to tell you but the door is about 100 years old. I live in a Craftsman Bungalow that was built in 1915 and it came with the door! But the paint is ColorPlace exterior, acrylic latex semi-gloss in Red Hot or Red Hat. I bought it about 8 years ago, so they may no longer have that color. What I do is pick out a bunch of red color swatches, discard the ones that look pinkish, orangey or burgundy. I look for a true red. Hope this helps!
A red front door is a widely recognized symbol of good luck. In the Chinese culture, doors are often re-painted red at the start of the year to welcome in good luck. Other culture also have positive associates with this symbol. Plus it makes for a great bold look at the entrance of your home!
Don't stop at the porch, get your red, white and blue on with a festive front door. This is one of those front doors that always grabs my eye when I visit Houzz. It never fails to make me smile! :-)
If you stopped your car and ventured up onto the front porch...you would be greeted by a bright red door decked out in happy flowers. It would welcome you, inviting you in like an old friend.
In China, it is a tradition to paint the front door red just before the New Year. It is believed to invite good luck and happiness into your home. With a new year waiting in the wings, maybe now is the perfect time to go for that red door you've been contemplating.
In Feng Shui, a red front door means “welcome.” Interestingly, in early American tradition, it meant the very same thing. In fact, if a home had a red front door, tired travelers who might be traveling by horse and buggy would know the home was a place where they would be welcomed to stop and spend the night or rest.
I can't think of a warmer welcome than this crimson front door. The cheerful color complements the front porch's old-fashioned cottage style perfectly and sets the tone for what's inside.
love this door would match kitchen windows....if we eventually replaced say freda's room with the kitchen windows then this would match so lovely. challenge is to find a door like this one
