View of patio and garden area. The first changes to the home were made in 1991 by her brother Dan, who built and installed a wooden deck over the swampy yard; followed by the construction of the original 4x6 fence that was known as “Fort Shannon.” Taken into consideration when making any changes to the house were the historical aspects of the property. Sheila notes that an enormous Cynthia rhododendron, one of the first planted in Enumclaw, still thrives in her yard. (See photo) When asked how she chose the palette for her home, Sheila replies, “Living in a small space, I knew I needed to work with light and cheery colors, clever placement of mirrors, and bright and airy window treatments to make the area seem more expansive. With green as my favorite color, it was natural to blend my interior and exterior design elements, effectively extending my living space by making the patio & garden an area of year-round-use."
