How do you make a split entry not look like a split entry? Several challenges presented themselves when designing the new entry/portico. The homeowners wanted to keep the large transom window above the front door and the need to address “where is” the front entry and of course, curb appeal.
With the addition of the new portico, custom built cedar beams and brackets along with new custom made cedar entry and garage doors added warmth and style.
Final touches of natural stone, a paver stoop and walkway, along professionally designed landscaping.
This home went from ordinary to extraordinary!

Price of this? - Roughly how much does this remodeling cost? i have a house, that would look great with this new look. »
Knight Construction Design | Chanhassen, Minnesota Anywhere between $75,000-$100,000 based on your final selections, landscaping and size of home. It is hard to give a ballpark number for this type of thing. Thanks and good luck.
Does this house have an entrance from the garage? - Our house looks very similar and does not have an entrance from to garage due to the front door being in the middle. I'd love to make an entrance from our garage, just wondering if this house did. Thanks! »
Knight Construction Design | Chanhassen, Minnesota Thanks for your question! It is not hardie board, it is painted cedar board and batton. We did a custom color match for the paint. Good luck!
house color - Hello, I was wondering what the name of the paint color on the house in the picture and what type and name of the stone is used in the picture. thank you »
Knight Construction Design | Chanhassen, Minnesota Hi! We did not bump out the entry but we did add square footage to the living room window area which allowed us to create the additional roof line. Thanks for the question!
mspinnichio Thanks...we LOVE this re-model. We plan on doing something similar as ours is an extra long rectangle with a recessed entry (bumpouts in the Living room & Bed Rooms) with no visual appeal. The lower area is 70's red brick which will paint and then eventually stone like yours...One step at a time :)
