Annie Thornton This chest came off of craigslist (it may have been free). I sanded it down and painted it with several coats of 'Red Hot' from Behr in high gloss. The knobs came from Anthropologie.
It was a relatively inexpensive project and I am really happy with the results. It literally glows in my bedroom.
Annie Thornton Hello! I originally bought this poster online at Swell.com, but that was 5 or 6 years ago. You may want to check ebay or maybe some other surf shops offering art. Mollusk in Venice or SF, as well as other artsy shops on Abbot Kinney could be great starts. Good luck!
Annie Thornton The photo may throw the color off a little, but it is a very bold red/orange. I think it's a red with a lot of orange in it, but my boyfriend insists it's orange. The more coats I applied, the oranger it got. I love it.
What year? - The doorways in this picture have the exact details as our house in slc. Our house was built in 1909. When was this house built? Love this picture. »
Annie Thornton This house is old — the year of your house sounds about right. It's the top floor of an old Victorian in the Lower Haight neighborhood of San Francisco. I should definitely research this more and will get back to you if I hear anything. The best part — the ceilings. They're about 16'.
Annie Thornton I got this print from Swell about 5 years ago. I would check ebay to see if it comes up or even some of the more artistic surf shops — Mollusk in SF and Venice, depending on where you live. Many have galleries as well and will feature some up-and-coming or established artists with a surfy vibe.
erinandvictor Thanks Annie. I actually lived in San Pedro until last year. I'm only a few hours away, i may try and go down and see if they have it. Thanks again.
Erin
3. Decide which furniture to keep. As you are going through the room, note which pieces you want to keep and which will be sold or given away. But before buying anything new, consider updating existing furniture with fresh paint or knobs, and look around the rest of the house (including in the attic and the basement) for forgotten treasures.
