I kind of like a closed cabinet like this - books can be there, but don't need to be seen. Also like the stoop off the fireplace and the high windows.

minimal mantel extends over flanking cabinets to integrate all, becomes a shelf over cabinets. Raised hearth means TV and fireplace hearth can be on same horizontal plane, can orient furniture diagonally to both--nothing perpendicular
