Is the porch wooden? Is the apron wooden? - Our builder has said that if we do a stone apron, we will have to go with a concrete porch. I like the idea of using stone as the pillar bases only if there is a way to do the wood in between them. I like the idea of a wooden porch, and we are also trying to save money on the foundation. Hope this makes sense. Thanks! »
mnovey I really like the front porch which adds a different dimension to the box shape of the colonial. What is the ballpark cost to add this to an existing colonial and how do you get started with design plans for a project like this.
Ron Brenner Architects The porch is about 10' deep, extends the width of the house and wraps the corner back to a sunroom. From the corner to the sunroom it is a screen porch.
Can you share information about the fence? - I love the look of your fence and need to find something similar for our corner lot. Can you share the kind/type of fence, what it is made of and where you found it?
thanks »
Ron Brenner Architects The fence was installed after the initial construction; therefore I do not have the exact information. However this appears to be a custom design constructed from cedar boards, rails and newel posts; with all components painted. The components should be available at most good lumber yards. This is a very classic, traditional look.
