New cottage northern Ontario - help with cozy relaxed style. - I like the flooring in this photo. Can you tell me what it is?
I am looking for "cottage styles" with low maintenance features, and would appreciate some direction. »
Knight Associates This floor is stained Heart Pine. Pine is certainly appropriate for cottage styles, but because it is soft you would have to be ok with the odd scratch and ding in the floor. In general, I would look at flooring with wide boards and some small knots for character. Try looking for a local flooring mill in your area, you will find local wood species and can usually get a variety of widths and grades of flooring. Keeping the material local will go a long way towards the cottage feel you are going for.
stacywnj You can also do a search on "Bobbin Chair" or "Spool Chair" ... a lot of retailers have different versions of these chairs (i.e. Frontgate, Pier One). I believe Bassett even has a version with a funky cow print fabric. Good luck!
Knight Associates I don't know where the cushion came from, but I doubt it was online. Here on the coast of Maine there are a lot of people that make custom cushions for boats, so they will make them for home use as well. Try looking for an upholstery shop in your area, or even a good seamstress that can also make pillows and cushions.
Knight Associates The client chose these shades, so I don't have any information in our records. For something similar, try Hunter Douglas roller shades.
Would love to know the paint colors used on the walls - paneling and trim - If you could tell me the paint colors used for the walls and trim, I'd be grateful! Getting ready to paint my own paneling and want this same rustic/beachy look.
Thanks! »
Knight Associates These are reclaimed bricks, so the color is naturally occurring over time. You can get new "old bricks" but they are not nearly as nice looking.
Lots to like here
Key furniture is all neutral.
Note matching printed fabric on chair and pillows
Shade on windows – almost disappears, smaller than Roman shades
Window seat with pillows, lake view
Interesting table and chairs
Warm color comes from rug and brick fireplace.

Love how cozy this room feels... big squishy couches, window seat with pillows, light colors and throw blankets scattered. Darker woods accent with warmth
colour scheme, pillow on bench 2 of each, wood plank floors, bright carpet, simple couch colour which matches window seat cushion. Seating arrangements allows for focal of both fireplace and window seat
living room glass window can be sliding from floor to ceiling on sides and in the centre it can start from 18/20' ht. we can place a settir like this there
