Wall Planks - First of all I LOVE LOVE LOVE the entire bedroom and wish mine was half this cute!!! Down to business. I'm attempting to do exactly this with my bedroom walls but am having trouble finding the planks. Did you have them manufactured locally by a lumber yard or can you share where you got them? »
Knight Associates Thank you for the kind words. The boards are just 1x12" plain boards (no tongue and groove, etc.). I'm not sure exactly where the contractor sources them from, but you can probably find this size board in pine at the local big-box lumber yard. If you can find it in poplar it may be cheaper, and poplar is a more stable wood than pine. You might want to try different sizes- an 8" board may look better on your wall, and it might be less likely to warp. Be sure to take into account how the extra wall thickness will affect outlets and window/door trim, and good luck with the project.
Knight Associates The room is 23'-5" x 17'-10". The bed is on the north wall, which is the shorter dimension. The south wall opposite the bed has the entry door in the center and built-in cabinets on either side. The West Wall has a double french door leading out to a covered porch with double windows on either side. The East wall has three doors, one to the bathroom, one to a closet and one to an office space. The bed in centered on the north wall and there are some chairs near the fireplace. I don't have an exact layout of the furniture, but this should give you an idea.
Knight Associates We weren't involved in picking furniture and fabrics, so I don't know who makes this particular fabric. Perhaps someone else on Houzz can identify it???
What is the horizontal wall/board treatment called? - I am wanting to use this on some walls in my home and am wondering what my options are; does it come in 4x8 sheets or would I need to go at it one board at a time? I frequently see it used in cottages and it is typically painted white. Crate and Barrel use it a lot in their store. Thanks! »
