Hi, I love the kitchen backsplash. Can you tell me what the stone is?

It's a stacked slate that actually comes in bricks. However, to remove the 'brick' look so it doesn't appear stacked, I actually had to cut each piece to 'finger joint' it to allow it to look as if it really was set piece by piece. I got it at St College Distributors in Anaheim. They hate it because it doesn't sell. It's like a cheap version of Cultured Stone or El Dorado for the outside of your house but made thin like tile to use inside. It was a lot of work but looked really good in the end.

Wow, that sounds like a lot of work, looks like it was worth it. Next time you might want to try one of our low profile natural stone veneers. They come in panels and install quickly.
