Damage to the Seat & Surrounding Wood - It looks great and I want to do it in at least one room in my condo that has four radiators in varous windows like this one.
Does the steam heat deteriorate the seat and the surrounding wood? Are there materials they use to lessen the damaging effect of the heat?
Is the seat removable for servicing of the ratiator?

Hi, Is it possible to get a "how to" guide to measuring and building these built ins? Especially love this window bench with side storage. But I never built anything from scratch. Thanks! »
Annie Thornton Hi @new1, I would contact a contractor or experienced builder and see if you guys can work on this together. That way, you are sure to get a great product, a lot of knowledge, and you are sure to avoid any mishaps that may happen from attempting this alone.
This cozy spot takes advantage of a space formerly completely hogged by a radiator. The upper shelf is a great idea, and the coordinating bins keep it looking neat and elegant.
This may be my favorite pic in this whole ideabook. The not-so-attractive radiator is virtually hidden, and additional seating has been gained. Even the space overhead has not been wasted.
What hidden storage spaces have you found in your home?
