Inside, beams of reclaimed wood stand out from the walls, ceiling and flooring milled from windfall site trees. The two synthesize into a contemporary-vernacular open space lit overhead from the dormers.
Cape Cod houses continue to be built, a testament to our love of this style. But while in the past the interiors were often small and dim, contemporary interpretations include open floor plans, soaring ceilings and extensive window and door areas.

“Wow like combo wood and concrete floor. Concrete creates "hallway" without walls”

Crisp, clean lines of wood members, great windows, Love the floor change with the recessed hardwood floors inset inside the colored/stained concrete floor.
Is that a painted concrete floor with hard wood insert? I had wanted to do natural stone and hardwood that way but knew it would be very expensive. This is a very cool way to define a space and reduce ware on the hard wood. There is alot I like about this particular house. Perhaps it would be plenty light without such tall walls if the ceilings/roof was layerd like the picture you emailed me.
