Where did you find the countertop? This is exactly what I am looking for to finish my mudd room. Thanks! »
Pare down the kitchen, put away distracting everyday equipment, and set out fresh fruit and tea and a pitcher of water. Fan out a stack of new and positive magazines.
The clients' love of Julia Child inspired them to request open shelving in lieu of upper cabinets. The recessed cabinets on the left provide pantry space. Stephanie explains how this design fits in so well: "The deep pantry cabinets match the base kitchen cabinets, but the integrated or recessed installation is more fitting for the entry—you don't feel like you're walking into the kitchen or pantry. It allows the wall, running from the entry to the lake-side deck, to read as one, as opposed to a series of segmented pieces."
"The low-VOC stain on the cabinets was selected to match an antique family heirloom." The lower cabinets were custom designed by ZED.
Inside the Cape Cod retreat with solar panels featured in Solar & Geothermal ideabook, they used low-VOC stain on the cabinets, radiant heat, cork light fixtures and a bio-ethanol firebox.
Both floor surfaces, clean lines, clear area, good work area, hall closet doors are flush and raised off floor, windows. Don't like lack of cupboard area.
What if you built out the wall near the basement door so that the fridge appears built in and you don't see the side. if you build the wall out 27" then a standard fridge could look built in. Then you could put a pantry on the other side pulled out flush with the fridge.
