chulitab I also live in PR so I know the problem with termites. I found similar doors at Home Depot. Also custom maid and pricey but I believe they might be the answer for you. I am interested in kitchen cabinets made of some sort of wood like plastic.
Does anyone know if the header above the opening needs to be reinforced to support the weight of the door? - I was told this by an estimator from a glass company. I am looking now at plexi alternatives and thinking maybe it doesn't need the extra header since plexi is so much lighter. Also this is for my bathroom and would feel more comfortable with shatter proof plastic. The bath is white marble w turquoise 1x2 glass tile trim. »
Keim Lumber Company It would all depend on the type of glass you are using. Our typical 1/4 inch glass we would use would not need reinfocement...this would all depend on the wall construction as well. If you are using a contractor for this job, we would suggest consulting them. If you are not using a contractor, please feel free to call and speak to one of our Millwork Specialists. 800-362-6682. They have the questions that need answered in order to tell you whether you need reinforcement or not. I hope this helps!
barounds thank you, it is at my other house in NV and I'm living in Alaska at the moment. I will call when I get down there for the holiday in a week. Merry Christmas!
Keim Lumber Company Merry Christmas to you as well. We are closed for Christmas break from December 22 through January 1 in case you try to reach us then.
chadlo hi - i'm looking to order this door with a custom size. when I call the millwork dept, what should I tell them? can I just point them to this image? thanks
Keim Lumber Company Yes, if you explain that you saw the image on houzz.com and describe the image...they will be able to help you. It can never hurt to have a screen shot too.
This is a cool idea for blocking off a kitchen or bathroom area in an efficiency apartment or a small open room... Good way to close off the area or open it when in use... love this idea...
